Entrepreneurship in the sports industry.

November 19, 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Hear the journey of a former Olympic athlete-turned entrepreneur who built a video coaching service for athletes and coaches. Pete will discuss trends in sports technology, key challenges of starting a company in this space, and some of the unique issues when working with and marketing to athletes.

Pete Cipollone is the co-founder and CEO of InstaViser, an online coaching network connecting the world’s best athletes and coaches with those aspiring to achieve their potential, via live one-to-one video.

Pete is a graduate of Cal, where he majored in Economics and was a member of the rowing team. Professionally, he has seventeen years’ experience in team leadership, product management and software development, from time at Dow Jones, Factiva, Inform Technologies, and more. At Factiva, he acquired a London-based company and led the global 30-person Factiva Insight team, serving the public relations and corporate communications markets. He holds two US patents in search relevance ranking.

Pete was also the coxswain of the US Olympic Team’s eight-oared rowing team in 2000 and 2004. In 2004, his crew set the world record and won Olympic gold in Athens after a 40-year drought for the United States in the event. Since retiring from international competition, Pete has stayed involved by mentoring aspiring athletes, and as a director of the United States Rowing Association, where he was chairman in 2012 and 2013
